Making toast in the oven couldn't be easier; this recipe for oven toast is a quick way to use an oven to make perfectly toasted bread!

This also helps you control how dark your toast is; no more underdone or burnt toast!

Why you will love this recipe:

Whether you don't have a toaster on hand or if you just prefer your bread toasted in an oven (this is how I make toast everyday), this is the easiest and quickest recipe!

This is also a great method if you want to get multiple slices toasted at once. You can fit almost a whole loaf on both racks with this method.

Ingredients, bread slices, butter, jam, on a brown table.

    Key Ingredients:

    • Sliced Bread. I love to use the Tuscan Pane from Trader Joe's and Dave's Killer Bread Whole Grains. But all types, from plain white to french bread, work.
    • Whatever toppings you want, my favorites are:
      • Bourbon Honey Butter
      • Bourbon Strawberry Jam
      • Bourbon Blackberry Jam
      • Avocado with everything bagel seasoning and a little bit of balsamic vinegar
      • Ricotta with sliced strawberries and honey
slices of bread being baked in an oven.
Bake the slices of bread directly on the oven racks.

    Step by step instructions:

This is such an easy method! Just place the bread slices on an oven rack and bake!

    • Preheat the oven.
    • Grab the bread you want to toast.
    • Decide how dark you want your toast to be.
    • Place the bread slices directly on the oven racks.
    • Bake for 10-18 minutes based on how dark you want the toast to be and how thick your slices are.
    • Carefully remove the slices from the oven with an oven mitt.
    •  Serve with your favorite toppings.

    FAQ's:

What temperature do you toast bread in the oven?

I toast bread at 425 to get quick browned toast.

What type of bread is best for toast?

A thick slice of artisan bread is best, I love the Tuscan Pane from Trader Joe's and Dave's Killer Bread Whole Grains, but any type of bread will do.

    About Pate

Hi! I'm Pate, the blogger, recipe developer, and photographer behind The G&M Kitchen!

Raised in the heart of Kentucky, I come from a long line of passionate cooks and bakers. The kitchen was always the heart of our home, where we transformed vegetables into delightful dishes and crafted pies and cakes that emerged from the oven. This tradition of coming together through food and cooking inspired the name of my blog, The G&M Kitchen – 'G' for my father's family, the Giltners, and 'M' for my mother's family, the Millers.

I also believe if a recipe is missing something, it's probably bourbon.
