⭐ Why I love this recipe:

    1. It is the perfect thing to make that Thanksgiving Pie extra special! The hint of alcohol elevates the topping and adds flavor to desserts or coffee.
    2. It's so easy! Flavored whipped cream adds just one extra easy step and creates an exciting, elevated dessert.
    3. It's impressive! Adding a dollop of bourbon cream to a dessert makes it seem that you took that extra effort to please your guests!
The ingredients for the bourbon whipped cream on a brown table.

    📋 Key Ingredients:

Heavy Cream/ Whipping cream: heavy cream is milk with a high concentration of fat, and this high level of fat makes the milk thicker and easily whipped into the cream we love.

Granulated sugar: sugar sweetens the cream and adds a little bit of structure. You can also substitute with powdered sugar.

Bourbon: bourbon is smooth and sweet, and it adds an elevated depth to this recipe.

Vanilla: vanilla completes the flavor profile and adds a little more sweetness.

    See recipe card for quantities.

🔪 How to make this recipe:

Heavy cream being added to a white mixing bowl.

Step 1: Start by adding the cream and sugar to a high-sided mixing bowl.

A mixer starting to whip the cream in a bowl.

Step 3: Use an electric mixer to mix on medium-high until it starts to thicken.

    Whipped cream with soft peaks.

Step 4: Turn the mixer up to high and whip until very soft peaks form. Light tracks from the mixer should be visible.

Vanilla being added to the slightly whipped cream.

Step 5: Add the bourbon and the vanilla.

Fully whipped cream in the white mixing bowl.

Step 6: Continue to whip until stiff peaks form.

    💭 Expert Tips:

Chill Everything: Ensure that both the cream and the bowl you'll be using are well chilled. This helps the cream whip faster and holds its shape better.

Serve and Store Properly: Use the whipped cream immediately or store it in the refrigerator. It's best when used within a few hours. Re-whip lightly if necessary before serving.

If your cream gets over-whipped and clumpy, you can fix it by slowly pouring in more cream and lightly beating it until it reaches a smoother texture.

    Flavor Variations or Substitutions:

You can switch the bourbon out for several different spirits or liqueurs:

    • Rum Whipped Cream: Substitute bourbon with dark or spiced rum for a different, warm flavor profile.
    • Brandy Whipped Cream: Use brandy for a rich, slightly sweet note.
    • Kahlúa Whipped Cream: Incorporate coffee-flavored liqueur for a unique, slightly bitter taste.

You can also use this recipe to make different Non-Alcoholic whipped creams:

    • Cinnamon Whipped Cream: Sprinkle about 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon into the whipped cream for a warm, spicy flavor.
    • Maple Whipped Cream: Mix in 1 tablespoon of maple syrup for a sweet, smokey flavor.
    • Honey Whipped Cream: Replace sugar with honey for a natural sweetener.
