Bourbon whipped cream is the perfect topping to make any dessert festive and a little boozy! This sweet cream has a delicious edge with just a hint of bourbon.

This whipped cream is the perfect topping or icing for so many festive recipes. It's great on this Gingerbread Cake with Bourbon Cream, with these crepes with bourbon-poached pears, and on apple butter or pumpkin pie. But the options are endless, slather it on pies or cakes, or put it on top of a boozy hot chocolate.

The ingredients for the bourbon whipped cream on a brown table.

    Key Ingredients:

Heavy Cream/ Whipping cream: heavy cream is milk with a high concentration of fat, and this high level of fat makes the milk thicker and easily whipped into the cream we love.

Granulated sugar: sugar sweetens the cream and adds a little bit of structure. You can also substitute with powdered sugar.

Bourbon: bourbon is smooth and sweet, and it adds an elevated depth to this recipe.

Vanilla: vanilla completes the flavor profile and adds a little more sweetness.

    See recipe card for quantities.

    How to make this recipe:

Heavy cream being added to a white mixing bowl.

Start by adding the cream and sugar to a high-sided mixing bowl.

A mixer starting to whip the cream in a bowl.

Use an electric mixer to mix on medium-high until it starts to thicken.

    Whipped cream with soft peaks.

Turn the mixer up to high and whip until very soft peaks form. Light tracks from the mixer should be visible.

Vanilla being added to the slightly whipped cream.

Add the bourbon and the vanilla.

Fully whipped cream in the white mixing bowl.

Continue to whip until stiff peaks form.

    Tips for Success:

If your cream gets over-whipped and clumpy, you can fix it by slowly pouring in more cream and lightly beating it until it reaches a smoother texture.
