This parmesan and pickle martini is the perfect sweet and salty martini for sweet pickle lovers, and it comes with a delicious parmesan pickle crisp garnish! It combines gin, bread and butter pickle brine, dry vermouth, and loads of fresh parmesan, so a unique and tasty cocktail.

I love a martini and this is such a good version of a dirty martini made with sweet pickle brine and topped with loads of parmesan cheese. This bourbon espresso martini and this pumpkin spice espresso martini are also some of my go-to martini recipes.

    Key Ingredients

The ingredients for the cocktail on a green tile table.
    • Bread and butter pickles: this type of pickle has sugar mixed into the brine, making them sweet, but if you have another sweet style pickle, you can use that instead.
    • Freshly Grated Parmesan: Use freshly grated parmesan for the best results; the store-bought pre-shredded variety won't float on top of the drink as well.
    • Gin: I used a sweeter gin with orange notes called Mermaid Zest, and it mixed so well with the sweet pickle brine.
    • Dry vermouth: Like the best martini, we will be coating the glass with dry vermouth.

    How to make this drink:

A spoonful of parmesan cheese with a pickle on top on a lined baking sheet.
    1. Step 1: Start by making the parmesan crisps. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees, and spoon about 1 ½ tablespoons of parmesan cheese onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. Spread the cheese into a 2-inch circle and top with a pickle slice; repeat for a number of desired crisps. Cook for 5-7 minutes; mine were perfect at about 6 ½ minutes.
All the cocktail ingredients inside a cocktail shaker with ice.
    1. Step 2: Next make the cocktail by adding 2 ounces of gin, 1 ounce of bread and butter pickle brine, and ¼ ounce of parmesan cheese to a cocktail shaker with ice, and shake for 30 seconds.
The shaken cocktail has been poured into a martini glass.
    1. Step 3: Pour just enough dry vermouth to coat the glass into a chilled glass swirl and toss. Then double strain the shaken martini into the glass.
The poured drink is covered with grated parmesan.
    1. Step 4: Next, grate fresh parmesan over the drink until it's completely covered. Garnish with your crisp, and enjoy!
The finished drink is garnished with a pickle and parmesan crisp.

    Tips:

Use a sweet style pickle, like bread and butter for best results.
Freshly grated parmesan and not store-bought pre-shredded cheese works best.
Chill your glasses and ingredients before making the cocktail for a super chilled drink.

    About Pate

Hi! I'm Pate, the blogger, recipe developer, and photographer behind The G&M Kitchen!

Raised in the heart of Kentucky, I come from a long line of passionate cooks and bakers. The kitchen was always the heart of our home, where we transformed vegetables into delightful dishes and crafted pies and cakes that emerged from the oven. This tradition of coming together through food and cooking inspired the name of my blog, The G&M Kitchen – 'G' for my father's family, the Giltners, and 'M' for my mother's family, the Millers.

I also believe if a recipe is missing something, it's probably bourbon.
