This pumpkin spice espresso martini is the perfect fall twist on the classic cocktail! It matches pumpkin butter with bourbon, baileys, and espresso for such a delightful fall treat. Bourbon and pumpkin are an ideal match, so this version switches the vodka out for bourbon whiskey and Kahlua out for baileys, a whiskey-based liqueur.
Bourbon espresso is such a great flavor combination, and I have always thought that bourbon is a much better spirit choice for this martini than traditional vodka. In fact, two of my favorite cocktails are bourbon and espresso cocktails, this Bourbon Espresso Old Fashioned, and this Espresso Mint Julep!
I have always thought that pumpkin and bourbon are perfect flavor partners. They are especially delicious in this pumpkin spice old fashioned.

Why you will love this recipe:
- Perfect for pumpkin, bourbon, and espresso lovers! This cocktail packs a punch of pumpkin spice flavor from pumpkin butter, bourbon, and espresso.
- Perfect for espresso martini lovers and pumpkin spice latte lovers!
- Well-rounded flavors! This cocktail combines pumpkin, espresso, and bourbon with creamy baileys!
Key Ingredients:
- Bourbon: Bourbon is the key ingredient in any old-fashioned, so using the best one that goes well with the espresso and brown sugar is key. A sweet but well-balanced bourbon is my favorite. I used Woodford Reserve for this version.
- Espresso: a single shot of freshly brewed espresso is the coffee element used in the cocktail. Using true espresso is key; I would not substitute for regular drip coffee as it's not as strong.
- Pumpkin Butter: pumpkin butter is a pumpkin that has been cooked down with different types of spices and sugars; to me, it is essential pumpkin spice.
- Baileys: baileys is an irish cream liqueur with a whiskey base that blends perfectly with the bourbon, pumpkin, and espresso.
How to make this recipe:
- Step 1: Start by brewing 1 shot of espresso (aprox. 1 ½ ounces).
- Step 2: Add ice, 1 ½ ounces bourbon, and 1 tablespoon pumpkin butter to a cocktail shaker.
- Step 3: Top with ½ ounce baileys and the shot of espresso.
- Step 4: Shake for 30 seconds, pour into a coupe glass, and garnish with a dusting of cinnamon and 3 espresso beans.
💭 EXPERT TIPS:
Suggested Barware: Use a jigger to measure your bourbon and syrup accurately. Use a reliable cocktail shaker to mix the cocktail.
Use freshly brewed espresso and shake the shaker vigorously to get that signature espresso martini foam.

Notes
The pumpkin butter can make this cocktail a little grainy, if you you prefer a smoother drink use 1 ounce of the pumpkin spice syrup from this pumpkin spice old fashioned. However the pumpkin flavor is much more noticeable with the pumpkin butter.
