Why you will love this cocktail:

    1. Perfect for Harry Potter and bourbon fans!
    2. It's the ideal sweet treat. This sweet and creamy cocktail is the perfect indulgence!
    3. Cream soda and butterscotch are a delicious falvor combination.

The ingredients for the butterbeer old fashioned on a black marble table.

    Key Ingredients:

Cream soda: cream soda is a soda flavor that is meant to mimic vanilla ice cream, it's sweet, bubbly, and delicious. In thisrecipe, it is heated up to reduce slightly and blend well with the butterscotch topping.

Butterscotch topping: this is found with ice cream toppings in most grocery stores, but it can also be substituted for caramel if butterscotch is unavailable.

Bourbon: Bourbon is the key ingredient in any old-fashioned, so using the best one that goes well with the butterscotch and cream soda is key. A sweet but well-balanced bourbon is my favorite.

Bitters: black walnut bitters are sweet bitter and perfect for the cocktail.

Whipping cream: it wouldn't be butterbeer without the little whipped cream.

    See recipe card for quantities.

    How to make this recipe:

a clear glass pot filled with the cream soda and the butterscotch syrup being poured in.
    1. Step 1: Start by heating 1 bottle of cream soda in a small pot for 5-10 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in ¼ cup butterscotch topping. Let cool.
The bourbon being poured into a rocks glass with one large ice cube.
    1. Step 2: Add 1 ½ ounces of bourbon, 1 ounce of the cream soda mixture, and 1 dash of walnut bitters to a rocks glass with ice. Stir to combine.
A small mason jar with cream being whipped by a mixer.
    1. Step 3: add 1 ounce of whipping cream to a mason jar or cocktail shaker and beat or shake until thickened. It shouldn't be too thick and should still be pourable.
The cream has been poured on top of the cocktail.
    1. Step 4: Pour the cream on top of the cocktail, dust with edible glitter and cinnamon, and garnish with a star anise.

    About Pate

Hi! I'm Pate, the blogger, recipe developer, and photographer behind The G&M Kitchen!

Raised in the heart of Kentucky, I come from a long line of passionate cooks and bakers. The kitchen was always the heart of our home, where we transformed vegetables into delightful dishes and crafted pies and cakes that emerged from the oven. This tradition of coming together through food and cooking inspired the name of my blog, The G&M Kitchen – 'G' for my father's family, the Giltners, and 'M' for my mother's family, the Millers.

I also believe if a recipe is missing something, it's probably bourbon.
