This Adams Family-themed cocktail, called the Gomez & Morticia, is the perfect cocktail to celebrate your spooky and undying love during Halloween! It's a spin on a Kir Royal and combines sparkling rose wine, black cassis, and a little rose syrup. It's seductive, beautifully crimson, and full of bubbles!

    Why this recipe works:

I love Halloween and Halloween-themed cocktails; just check out my Practical Magic Midnight Margaritas, Hocus Pocus I Put a Spell on you Cocktail, and Hocus Pocus Black Flame Candle Cocktail!

This one is based on the iconic love between Gomez and Morticia in The Adams Family. Gomez and Morticia are complete couple goals and are entirely devoted to each other. The sweet and sour flavors of black cassis, the hint of roses, and sparkling wine are the perfect flavors to honor their passionate relationship!

    Key Ingredients:

Black Cassis Liqueur: black cassis is a black currant liqueur made from the black currant berry. The berry tastes like a combination of grape and cherry, making the liqueur sweet and a little tart. I used this one from Mathilde.

Rose Syrup: Morticia loves cutting off roses' tops to make her budless arrangements. Including a bit of rose in this cocktail is an ode to Morticia's love for roses, and it balances well with the black currant.

Sparkling Rosè: Similar to a Kir Royal, which is a black current champagne cocktail, this is topped with sparkling wine! The wine tones down the potent black cassis and makes a wonderful festive cocktail!

    See recipe card for quantities.

    How to make this recipe:

Two coupe glass with black currant liqueur bring poured into one.

Add ½ oz of black currant liqueur to a flute or coupe glass.

Two coupe glass with rose syrup bring poured into one.

Top with ½ oz rose syrup.

Sparkling rose being poured into the coup glass.

    Top off with Sparkling Rosè.

Three dried roses sitting on top of the cocktail.

    Garnish with roses.

    Substitutions:

This recipe is completely delicious, but a few things could be switched out based on taste and availability.

    • Black Cassis can easily be switched out for any black currant liqueur or raspberry liqueur.
    • If you aren't a fan of rose flavors, you can skip this and still have a delicious cocktail.
    • You can also use champagne or sparkling white wine instead of Rosè

    About Pate

Hi! I'm Pate, the blogger, recipe developer, and photographer behind The G&M Kitchen!

Raised in the heart of Kentucky, I come from a long line of passionate cooks and bakers. The kitchen was always the heart of our home, where we transformed vegetables into delightful dishes and crafted pies and cakes that emerged from the oven. This tradition of coming together through food and cooking inspired the name of my blog, The G&M Kitchen – 'G' for my father's family, the Giltners, and 'M' for my mother's family, the Millers.

I also believe if a recipe is missing something, it's probably bourbon.
