This spiced and spicy whiskey sour is the perfect hot twist on the classic for the holiday season. It combines a hot honey, cinnamon, and allspice syrup with bourbon, lemon juice, ancho chile liqueur, and a little egg white. It's a little sweet, spicy, and sour, and it's absolutely delicious.
Bourbon drinks are my go-to cocktails, and my favorite usually is an old fashioned, like this spiced cranberry old fashioned, but this whiskey sour is now topping the list! The egg white is optional, but it makes the drink velvety and frothy.

Key Ingredients:
- Bourbon or whiskey: this is the perfect opportunity to use your favorite bourbon or whiskey for cocktails. I went with one of my favorites, Buffalo Trace.
- Fresh Lemon Juice: fresh lemon juice is key to any whiskey sour, fresh squeezed is best.
- Spiced Hot Honey Syrup: this delicious syrup is made with hot honey, cinnamon sticks, and allspice. It's a great festive hot honey syrup and a key ingredient in this hot honey yule mule.
- Ancho Chile Liqueur: this is a moderately sweet and hot chile liqueur with a delightful hint of spices.
- Egg white: this is optional but it makes the cocktail delightfully velvety and frothy.

How to make this recipe:
- Step 1: Start by making the spiced hot honey syrup by adding 1 cup hot honey, 1 cup water, 5 cinnamon sticks, and ½ teaspoon allspice to a small pot. Heat until the honey has loosened (5-10 minutes), then set aside and let cool. Strain
- Step 2: Then add 2 ounces of bourbon, ¾ ounces of lemon juice, 1 ounce of the hot honey syrup, ½ ounce of ancho chili liqueur, and 1 egg white to a cocktail shaker.
- Step 3: Shake for 30 seconds, add ice, then shake again
- Step 4: Cook in oven for x minutes at 400 degrees
Tips:
Suggested Barware: Use a jigger to measure your bourbon and syrup accurately.
Shake the cocktail so the syrup fully mixes. When stirred, the syrup can sink to the bottom. And for the best, most frothy results, use a metal shaker.
Store the syrup in the fridge for up to two weeks.
