Description
This spiced and spicy whiskey sour is the perfect hot twist on the classic for the holiday season. It combines a hot honey, cinnamon, and allspice syrup with bourbon, lemon juice, ancho chile liqueur, and a little egg white. It's a little sweet, spicy, and sour, and it's absolutely delicious.

For the syrup:
- 1 cup hot honey
- 1 cup water
- 5 cinnamon sticks
- 1/2 tsp allspice
For the cocktail:
- 2 ounces of bourbon or whiskey
- 3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
- 1 ounce hot honey syrup
- 1/2 ounce ancho chile liqueur
- 1 egg white (optional)
Instructions
- Start by making the spiced hot honey syrup by adding 1 cup hot honey, 1 cup water, 5 cinnamon sticks, and ½ teaspoon allspice to a small pot.
- Heat until the honey has loosened (5-10 minutes), then set aside and let cool. Strain.
- Then add 2 ounces of bourbon, 3/4 ounces of lemon juice, 1 ounce of the hot honey syrup, 1/2 ounce of ancho chili liqueur, and 1 egg white to a cocktail shaker.
- Shake for 30 seconds, add ice, then shake again.
- Pour into a coupe glass or over ice in a rocks glass.
- Garnish with a dusting of cinnamon.
