This grapefruit sangria is my favorite recipe for pink rosé sangria; it's refreshing, crisp, and bursting with fruit flavor! It hits the perfect balance of tart and sweet, and it's perfect for warm days.
This sangria is made with dry rosé wine, grapefruit liqueur, grapefruit juice, Aperol, strawberries, and peaches and is completely delightful!
Why you will love this recipe:
Sangria is the perfect spring and summer cocktail! It's refreshing, serves a large group, takes minimal effort, and is gorgeous!
This recipe is also fabulous because it's ready in less than five minutes (there is no need to chill this recipe in the fridge for hours!).
Spring and summer cocktails are some of my favorites and if you are looking for another option, this mint julep, and this Limoncello Spritz are great!
Key ingredients:
Rosé: a delicious dry french rosé is perfect for this recipe! There is a liqueur and a touch of simple syrup in this recipe, so a sweet wine isn't needed, and the crispness of dry wine perfectly complements the grapefruit.
Grapefruit Liqueur: this is key! This recipe calls for Grapefruit liqueur to really bring out the grapefruit flavor. I use Giffard Pink Grapefruit Liqueur, and it is so delicious! I also use it in my grapefruit margaritas.
Aperol: Aperol is my favorite orange liqueur; it has a bit of bitterness and a beautiful orange flavor without being super sweet.
Fresh or Frozen Fruit: no sangria would be complete without fruit! Grapefruit juice and slices are essential to creating grapefruit flavor, and strawberries and peaches complement the grapefruit. But add in any fruit that you have on hand; it will be just as delicious!
How to make this recipe:
This is the easiest recipe! It's as simple as adding all the ingredients to a large pitcher and serving with ice!
I start by adding chilled rosé to a pitcher filled with ice, then add I in the grapefruit juice and fruit, followed but the liqueurs and simple syrup, then I give it a good stir, and serve!
Tips for success:
This recipe is foolproof, but here are a few things I do to make it perfect!
- Use a dry and crisp rosé. I love the ones from France because they are reasonable and not sweet, but any dry rose will do!
- Use chilled rosé; this just helps the sangria start if cold.
- Don't skip or substitute the grapefruit liqueur, but you can switch out the Aperol for any orange liqueur.
- If you don't want to make a full pitcher, I've made this by the glass by pairing this recipe down to 5 oz wine, 1 oz grapefruit liqueur, ½ oz Aperol, and sprinkling in some frozen fruit.
FAQ's:
This recipe calls for a dry rosé; it works so much better with fresh fruit. A sweet rosé could clash with the added fruit and liqueurs.
This is one calls for grapefruit, strawberries, and peaches, but almost any fruit works! Plums and mixed berries are also delicious. The main flavor profiles in this recipe are rosé and grapefruit, so any fruit that you think would be delicious with that, add them in.
Yes, both fresh and frozen fruit work equally well!
