Why You Will Love This Recipe:

    1. Oh So tropical: this margarita transports you straight to a tropical paradise. The vibrant flavors of mangoes take you right to sunny beaches!
    2. Spicy: For those who enjoy a little heat, the addition of spicy elements adds a thrilling kick to the margarita, taking the flavor profile to a whole new level.
    3. Cooling and refreshing: Its slushy consistency makes it the perfect cooling companion on scorching days.
    4. Quick and easy: This recipe is easy to make, allowing you to whip up a batch of these margaritas effortlessly for yourself or to share with friends and family.

    Key Ingredients

The ingredients for the margarita on a brown marble table.

Frozen Mango: using frozen fruit helps add to the drink's creamy and icy texture.

Jalapeño: jalapenos, add the heat to the margarita, cut the pepper into about ½ centimeter slices, use 4 slices for a mild, 5 medium, and 6 for really spicy!

Tequila: Tequila is the sole spirit used in this cocktail, providing the bold and distinctive agave flavor that serves as the foundation of the margarita. My goto tequila is Casamigos.

Lime Juice: No margarita is complete without lime juice, and using freshly squeezed lime juice is always recommended for the best flavor.

Simple Syrup or Agave Nectar: This cocktail features a subtle amount of sweetener to balance and complement the lime and cherry juice perfectly, and you can use agave, simple syrup, or even honey, depending on what you have available.

Tajin: This chili spice mixture is the perfect spicy and tangy spice mixture to rim the cocktail!

    See recipe card for quantities.

    How to make this recipe:

Add the ingredients to a blander.

Combine the frozen mango, jalapeno, tequila, lime juice, and agave syrup in a blender.

Blend the ingredients until smooth in a blender.

Add the ice cubes to the blender and blend until you achieve a smooth and slushy consistency.

The margarita poured into rimmed glasses.

Pour the margarita into the prepared glasses.

    Tips for success:

    • For a milder version, use half the jalapeño pepper or omit it entirely if you prefer a non-spicy margarita.
    • Adjust the sweetness by adding more or less agave syrup according to your preference.
    • If you like your margarita extra spicy, leave some of the jalapeño seeds or ribs intact when blending.
    • To make the margarita even icier, freeze the glasses for a few minutes before serving.

    Substitutions:

    • Experiment with different types of peppers to customize the level of spiciness. Try using serrano peppers for a hotter kick or poblano peppers for a milder flavor.
    • Swap the silver tequila with reposado or añejo tequila for a deeper and more complex taste.
    • If you prefer a non-alcoholic version, omit the tequila and triple sec, and replace them with a splash of orange juice and a few dashes of hot sauce for added flavor.
    • Adjust the sweetness by using honey or maple syrup as a substitute for agave syrup.
