This frozen pineapple mint julep is the perfect refreshing summer cocktail for bourbon and pineapple fans! Spring and summer mean its full-blown mint julep season, and this is the perfect riff for the classic mint julep cocktail.

This deliciously fruity spin on the classic julep has quickly become my favorite warm-weather drink! It's easy to make and uses just a few ingredients, making it a perfect cocktail!

Frozen pineapple mint julep in a glass julep cup and on a pink marble table with mint and a few cut flowers.

Mint juleps are a hallmark of spring and summer here in Kentucky and are my favorite drink once the weather starts to turn warm; just check out my the best mint julep recipe and fresh blackberry mint julep.

Mint juleps are delicious because they're full of fresh mint flavor and covered in refreshing crushed ice—in this case, blended with fruit and ice for a frosty frozen drink! For an easy big batch to serve a crowd, you can simply quadruple the recipe in a big blender.

    🌿 Key Ingredients

Ingredients for the cocktail on a pink marble table with the shadow of a window projecting on to the table.

Bourbon: Mint juleps are almost always made with bourbon. But you could substitute for rye or even brandy!

🥃 What bourbon works best for this cocktail?

A good classic, even bourbon, is my preference for this cocktail. Since we are blending it with quite a bit of fresh fruit, I'm not using my really high-end bourbon; something solid like Woodford Reserve or Old Forester is great for this cocktail!

Frozen Pineapple: using frozen fruit helps this cocktail maintain its frozen texture.

Simple Syrup: a classic simple syrup of 1 part sugar to 1 part water sweetens this cocktail and makes it sweet and refreshing.

Fresh mint: This recipe requires a lot of mint. Some mint leaves are blended with the pineapple, and several sprigs of whole mint are added to the glass for more flavor and garnish.

Ice: it wouldn't be a mint julep without a heavy helping of ice, and ½ cup is added to the mixture to help create the frozen texture.

    See recipe card for quantities.

🔪 How to make this recipe:

A blender container filled with pineapple and mint leaves.

Step 1: Add 1 cup frozen pineapple and mint leaves from 2 mint sprigs to a blender.

The blender filled with ice, bourbon, and simple syrup.

Step 2: Top with 2 ounces of bourbon, 1 ounce of simple syrup, ½ cup ice, 1-2 ounces water.

The blended cocktail in a blender after having been blended.

    Step 3: Blend until smooth.

The finished cocktail with the mixture in the glass mint julep cup and garnished with mint sprig.

Step 4: Pour into a glass and garnish with a mint sprig.

    💭 Expert tips:

Suggested Barware: Use a jigger to measure your bourbon, syrup, and water accurately.

Make your own syrup: making your own simple is so easy and cost-effective. Just cook 1 cup water and 1 cup sugar until all the sugar has melted, then let cool and strain.

If your frozen drink is too thick to pour, add in an additional ounce of water and blend again.

Hi! I'm Pate, the blogger, recipe developer, and photographer behind The G&M Kitchen!

Raised in the heart of Kentucky, I come from a long line of passionate cooks and bakers. The kitchen was always the heart of our home, where we transformed vegetables into delightful dishes and crafted pies and cakes that emerged from the oven. This tradition of coming together through food and cooking inspired the name of my blog, The G&M Kitchen – 'G' for my father's family, the Giltners, and 'M' for my mother's family, the Millers.

I also believe if a recipe is missing something, it's probably bourbon.
