    Why this recipe works:

This is the perfect cocktail for festive fall occasions! I love a margarita, and by adding a little sparkling water or club soda, it turns a regular margarita into such a refreshing and special feeling drink! This one combines the deeper and sweeter flavor of reposado tequila and apple cider to make it perfect for autumn!

This Kentucky Mule with Maple Ginger Syrup is another cocktail that is perfect for the fall season.

    Key Ingredients:

Ingredients for the margarita on a brown table.

Reposado Tequila: reposado is tequila that has been aged or "rested" in oak barrels, which gives it a deeper flavor with notes of vanilla, caramel, and cinnamon. This makes it the perfect spirit to pair with apple cider!

Spiced Apple Cider: the bulk of this recipe is apple cider so use your favorite! My go-to is the Trader Joe's spiced cider.

Simple Syrup or Agave Nectar: this cocktail has just a bit of sweetener to balance and complement the apple cider. You can use agave, simple syrup, or even honey, whatever you have on hand.

Lime Juice: no margarita is complete without lime juice!

Sparkling Water: by topping this margarita with sparkling water it turns into an incredibly refreshing treat perfect for fall gatherings!

    See recipe card for quantities.

    How to make this recipe:

Glass cocktail shaker with ice and tequila being poured in.

Start by adding the reposado to a cocktail shaker with ice.

Agave being added to the cocktail shaker.

Next, add the agave and lime juice.

Apple cider being poured into the shaker.

    Then top with apple cider.

Shaken margarita being poured into a tall glass.

Shake and pour into a highball or large glass with ice.

The margarita being topped with sparkling water.

Shake and pour into a highball or large glass with ice.

    Substitutions:

    • You can switch out the reposado for any type of tequila.
    • Turn this single margarita into a pitcher by mixing 2 cups apple cider, 6 ounces tequila, 2 ounces agave, and 2 ounces lime juice. Mix in a blender and then top off with 8-10 ounces of sparking water.
    • You could also rim the glass in cinnamon sugar.
