This hot honey yule mule is the perfect holiday cocktail. It's a hot honey syrup spiced with cinnamon and allspice, bourbon, cranberry juice, lime, and ginger beer. It's spicy, sweet, tart, and perfectly bubbly!

I love a mule because it is as delicious as it is refreshing and comforting. The bubbliness from the ginger beer is so lovely, and by adding spicy honey syrup, you get a very spicy and flavorful cocktail. Bourbon is also a superior spirit to vodka, has so much flavor on its own, and goes so well with ginger. My Kentucky Mule with Maple Ginger Syrup, is another great option if you love bourbon in your mule.

    Key Ingredients

    • Bourbon: This is a bourbon-based cocktail, and the bourbon flavor comes through, so using a high-quality bourbon is key to a delicious-tasting drink. You can use any bourbon you like! However, I suggest premium bourbon.
    • Cranberry juice: the cranberry juice is what makes this recipe so festive. Cranberry goes so well with bourbon and honey and transforms this into a delicious holiday cocktail. Use fresh no sugar added cranberry juice.
    • Lime Juice: Lime juice brightens the cranberry and adds even more flavor to this refreshing cocktail.
    • Spiced hot honey syrup: Hot Honey is such a delicious condiment, my go-to is Mikes Hot Honey. In this syrup, we loosen up the honey with water and add cinnamon sticks and allspice to add more holiday flavor to the drink.
    • Ginger Beer: This is a non-alcoholic carbonated soda similar to ginger ale. Ginger Ale can be used in a pinch, but a high-quality ginger beer like Reeds is best!

    How to make this recipe:

The hot honey syrup in a glass syrup container on a green marble table.
    1. Step 1: Start by making the spiced hot honey syrup by adding 1 cup hot honey, 1 cup water, 5 cinnamon sticks, and ½ teaspoon allspice to a small pot. Heat until the honey has loosened (5-10 minutes), then set aside and let cool. Strain.
A shaker filled with all the cocktail ingredients on a green marble table.
    1. Step 2:To a shaker filled with ice, add 2 ounces of bourbon, 1 ½ ounces of fresh cranberry juice, ½ ounce of lime juice, and 1 ounce of spiced hot honey syrup. Shake well to combine.

    1. Step 3: Pour into a copper cup with ice.

    1. Step 4: Top with 2 ounces of ginger beer and stir.

    Top Tips

Suggested Barware: Use a jigger to measure your bourbon and syrup accurately. Also, using a cocktail stirrer is beneficial because it fits so well around the ice.

Shake the cocktail so the syrup fully mixes. When stirred, the syrup can sink to the bottom.

Store the syrup in the fridge for up to two weeks.
