This is a light and spritzy take on the classic Boulevardier from 1920s Paris! This Boulevardier Spritz is a negroni with bourbon whiskey instead of gin and is topped with tonic or soda water, so it's super bubbly and refreshing for summer!

This version of the bourbon boulevardier cocktail is like a negroni sbagliato but for bourbon lovers!

I love classic bourbon cocktails, and I spend most of the year drinking Old Fashioneds, like this how to make the perfect old fashioned or this fun riff, the bourbon espresso old fashioned. And this sparkling version of the classic Bourbon Boulevardier cocktail sounded too good to resist.

    • Bourbon Boulevardier Spritz

    Key Ingredients

The spritz ingredients on a marble table.
    • Bourbon: Bourbon is the base for this cocktail, and I think a bourbon with orange or citrus notes, like Angels Envy, best blends and complements the Campari and orange peel.
    • Sweet Vermouth: Sweet vermouth is a fortified wine that has been enhanced with botanicals, these flavors blend so well with the warm Bourbon.
    • Campari: Campari is the Italian vibrant Italian bitter, it is similar to Aperol but much more bitter.
    • Tonic or Soda Water: I prefer tonic because it maintains those elements of bitterness from the Boulevardier, but soda water works great for a super palatable spritz!
    • Orange Slices: Finish the cocktail with fresh orange slices and enjoy!

    How to make this recipe:

Add in a rocks glass on a marble table.

Step 1: Fill a glass with ice.

The bourbon, sweet vermouth, and Campari have been added to the glass.

Step 2: Add the 1 ½ ounces of Bourbon, ¾ ounces of sweet vermouth, and ½ ounce of Campari. Stir to combine and to dilute slightly.

Tonic water is bering poured over the cocktail.

Step 3: Top with 2-3 ounces of tonic or soda water, and stir.

The final cocktail is garnished with an orange slice.

Step 4: Add an orange slice and serve!

    Expert Tips:

Suggested Barware: Use a jigger to measure your Bourbon, vermouth, and Campari accurately. Also, using a cocktail stirrer is beneficial because it fits so well around the ice.

    About Pate

Hi! I'm Pate, the blogger, recipe developer, and photographer behind The G&M Kitchen!

Raised in the heart of Kentucky, I come from a long line of passionate cooks and bakers. The kitchen was always the heart of our home, where we transformed vegetables into delightful dishes and crafted pies and cakes that emerged from the oven. This tradition of coming together through food and cooking inspired the name of my blog, The G&M Kitchen – 'G' for my father's family, the Giltners, and 'M' for my mother's family, the Millers.

I also believe if a recipe is missing something, it's probably bourbon.
