This lavender Earl Grey old fashioned balances bourbon, freshly brewed Earl Grey tea, lavender syrup, and lemon bitters. It's the perfect cocktail for those who love floral flavors, tea, and bourbon. If you love a good cup of tea, this is the cocktail for you!
I have always been such a fan of Earl Grey tea and lavender, especially in the springtime. The light floral flavors make it perfect for the time of year when flowers and trees start to bloom again.
Springtime makes me think of lavender and makes me crave the best mint julep recipe. Both are such heralds of the season, and I think mint and lavender are the springs of all the herbs.

Why you will love this recipe:
- It's your favorite cup of tea turned into a cocktail! Tea and whiskey are a well-known combination, but this version, which combines floral bourbon and lavender, is an unexpected and delicious combination.
- Perfect for lavender lovers. Lavender subtlety and perfectly blend with the bourbon and tea.
- It makes the most of a light and slightly floral bourbon. Four Roses is my go-to for this drink, but it would also be delicious with a floral rye whiskey.
Key Ingredients:
Earl Grey tea: brew your favorite tea! I made mine rather strong to make sure the flavor really comes through.
Lavender Syrup: I purchased my lavender syrup on Amazon, but you could also make your own with edible-grade lavender.
Bourbon: it wouldn't be an old fashioned with out bourbon, but rye whiskey would also be great in this!
What bourbon is best for this cocktail:
A floral bourbon works best with the floral notes in the tea and lavender, making Four Roses Small Batch great for this cocktail!
Lemon Bitters: A little of these goes a long way, so just a few drops give this drink a little kick of lemon.

How to make this recipe:
Step 1: Start by brewing the tea. For a strong flavor, I added 1 tea bag to 1 cup of boiling water and let it brew infuse for 5 minutes.
Step 2: Add ice to a rocks glass and top with 1 ½ ounces bourbon and ½ ounce lavender syrup.
Step 3: Then add 1 ½ ounces cooled tea, 2-3 drops of lemon bitters, and stirr.
Step 4: Garnish with a lemon slice and lavender.
💭 Expert Tips:
Suggested Barware: Use a jigger to measure your bourbon, syrup, and tea accurately. Also, using a cocktail stirrer is beneficial because it fits so well around the ice.
Ice: Use a large ice cube because it melts slower and is less likely to dilute the drink.
Make your own syrup: making your own simple is so easy and cost-effective. Just cook 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar, and 1 tablespoon food-grade lavender until all the sugar has melted, then let cool and strain.
