This Batched Banana Bread Old Fashioned is the ultimate make-ahead cocktail that takes banana liqueur and Bourbon (two flavors that go so well together) and mixes them with a bit of brown sugar, walnut, and chocolate to make a sweet, elegant, and nostalgic cocktail! All the cozy, nostalgic banana bread vibes in one easy-to-pour 32 oz bottle that makes up to 12 drinks.

A banana bread old fashioned in a small rocks glass with the batched container, behind it, and surrounded by banana chips and chocolate. Its. also on a marble table in front. of a window.

This version stays true to the original’s cozy flavor profile: Bourbon, banana, toasted walnut, dark sugar, and just a touch of chocolate. It’s smooth, subtly sweet, a little nutty, and absolutely decadent. Better yet? It lives in your fridge for months, so your favorite cocktail is always ready when you are. It is also the perfect no-fuss holiday drink that serves and keeps a crowd happy!

⭐ WHY YOU WILL LOVE THIS RECIPE:

    • Banana bread in a glass: Dessert vibes, bourbon-forward finish.
    • Batch-friendly: Makes 12 perfect pours—no shaker, no stress.
    • Lasts for months: Store it in the fridge and pour as needed.

    Ingredients

    • Bourbon: We love Old Forester 1910 or 1870 for its sweet banana notes.
    • Banana Liqueur: Adds that ripe, nostalgic banana flavor. My go-tos are Giffard and Drillard.
    • Brown Sugar Syrup: Deep, molasses-y sweetness that mimics banana bread crust. Made by combining 1 cup of water and 1 cup. Brown sugar.
    • Black Walnut Bitters: Toasted, earthy depth that ties it all together.
    • Chocolate Bitters: A subtle cocoa note that makes this extra cozy.

    See recipe card for quantities.

    How to make it:

Bourbon in a large measuring cup, Its also on a marble table in front. of a window.
    1. Step 1: Add the 3 cups of Bourbon to a 32-ounce container via a funnel.
The brown sugar syrup and banana liqueur have been added to the container.
    1. Step 2: Add 2 ounces of brown sugar syrup (Syrup: 1 cup brown sugar and 1 cup water cooked on medium until all the sugar has melted). Top with 1 cup of banana liqueur.
The bitters have been added and the drink has been sealed.
    1. Step 3: Add in the 25 dashes of chocolate bitters and 20 dashes of black walnut bitters. Seal and shake. Store in the freezer door. (optional: you can add up to ¼ cup more bourbon if your container allows)
The drink has been poured over a large ice cube and Its also on a marble table in front. of a window.
    1. Step 4: Serve over ice and garnish with shaved chocolate and a banana chip

    Tips:

    • Use a 32-ounce sealable container and a funnel.
    • Choose your Bourbon wisely: Old Forester 1910 or 1870 has the perfect notes for this.
    • Don’t overdo the banana liqueur: This ratio keeps it cocktail-y, not candy-like.
    • Chill before serving: Keep your batch cold and ready for effortless pours.
    • Perfect party move: Bottle it, label it, and bring it to your next fall dinner or holiday gathering

    About Pate

Hi! I'm Pate, the blogger, recipe developer, and photographer behind The G&M Kitchen!

Raised in the heart of Kentucky, I come from a long line of passionate cooks and bakers. The kitchen was always the heart of our home, where we transformed vegetables into delightful dishes and crafted pies and cakes that emerged from the oven. This tradition of coming together through food and cooking inspired the name of my blog, The G&M Kitchen – 'G' for my father's family, the Giltners, and 'M' for my mother's family, the Millers.

I also believe if a recipe is missing something, it's probably bourbon.
