This Bourbon Pumpkin Spritz is your fall cocktail upgrade, rich with autumn flavor, just the right amount of spice, and a fizzy finish that keeps things light, bright, and anything but basic. It combines bourbon with pumpkin butter, Cynar (an Italian amaro made from artichokes), and a blend of smoked cinnamon bitters and aromatic bitters to create something that feels undeniably seasonal.

A bourbon pumpkin spritz in a pumpkin shaped glass on a orange marble table.

A splash of prosecco and sparkling water on top lightens it up and adds that festive spritz element that makes it perfect for brunch, happy hour, or your next cozy gathering.

If you’ve been searching for a pumpkin spice cocktail that isn’t cloying or overly dessert-y, this is your drink. It’s sweet, spiced, balanced, and just a little bit bitter, in the best possible way.

    • Bourbon Pumpkin Spritz

    ⭐ Ingredients

    • Pumpkin Butter: pumpkin that has been cooked down with sugar and spices and acts as the sweet base of the cocktail.
    • Bourbon: Adds warmth, richness, and that classic fall cocktail depth.
    • Cynar: A bitter Italian liqueur made with artichokes and herbs, adds balance and a little bitterness.
    • Smoked Cinnamon Bitters: A smoky spice element that ties in perfectly with pumpkin.
    • Aromatic Bitters: Brightens the cocktail and brings more spice and flavor.
    • Prosecco & Sparkling Water: A bubbly duo that turns this into a true spritz.

    See recipe card for quantities.

🥂 How to make this cocktail:

A cocktail shaker filled with ice and the ingredients on a orange marble table.
    1. Step 1: Start by adding 1 tablespoon of pumpkin butter, 1 ½ ounces of bourbon, ½ ounce of Cynar, 1 dash of Aromatic bitters, and 1 dash of smoked cinnamon bitters to a shaker filled with ice. Shake for 30 seconds.
The bourbon pumpkin mixture has been poured into a pumpkin shaped glass.
    1. Step 2: Pour into a spritz glass filled with ice.
The pumpkin mixture has been topped with Prosecco and sparkling water.
    1. Step 3: Top with 3-4 ounces of Prosecco and 1 ounce of sparkling water.
The cocktail has been garnished with a cinnamon stick and star anise.
    1. Step 4: Garnish with grated cinnamon and star anise.

    🎃 Expert Tips

    • Use real pumpkin butter (not purée) for a smoother texture and richer flavor.
    • Don’t skip the Cynar: Its bitterness offsets the sweetness and brings a gorgeous herbal note.
    • Adjust the fizz: Add more sparkling water if you want it lighter; less if you like it boozier.
    • Garnish like a pro: A cinnamon stick, star anise, or even a dehydrated orange slice makes for the perfect fall spritz finish.

    About Pate

Hi! I'm Pate, the blogger, recipe developer, and photographer behind The G&M Kitchen!

Raised in the heart of Kentucky, I come from a long line of passionate cooks and bakers. The kitchen was always the heart of our home, where we transformed vegetables into delightful dishes and crafted pies and cakes that emerged from the oven. This tradition of coming together through food and cooking inspired the name of my blog, The G&M Kitchen – 'G' for my father's family, the Giltners, and 'M' for my mother's family, the Millers.

I also believe if a recipe is missing something, it's probably bourbon.
