Description

This pumpkin spice old fashioned is the perfect fall bourbon cocktail! It combines bourbon, an easy pumpkin spice syrup made from pumpkin butter, and spicy bitters.

Ingredients

Units Scale

For the syrup:

  • 1 cup pumpkin butter
  • 1 cup water

For the cocktail:

  • 1 1/2 ounces bourbon
  • 1 ounce pumpkin spice syrup
  • 1 dash angostura bitters
  • 1 dash of cinnamon bitters

Instructions

  1. Make the pumpkin spice syrup by combining 1 cup of pumpkin butter and 1 cup of water in a small saucepan. Cook until the butter has loosened (about 10-20 minutes). Then strain while still warm.
  2. Add a large ice cube to a rocks glass (or ice to a mixing glass) and top with 1 1/2 ounces of bourbon.
  3. Top with 1 ounce of the pumpkin spice syrup, 1 dash of Angostura bitters, and 1 dash of cinnamon bitters. Stir to combine.
  4. Garnish with star anise and a marigold.

Notes

Store the leftover syrup in the fridge for up to two weeks.

Syrup makes enough for 6-8 cocktails.
