- 1 1/2 cups chopped fresh figs
- 12 slices of thinly sliced prosciutto torn into little pieces
- 6 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp of baking powder
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 2 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 cups (4 sticks) cold butter cut into small cubes
- 1/2 cup honey
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 egg lightly beaten for an egg wash
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees
- In a large bowl whisk the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, and sugar.
- Add the cold butter and work the butter in by hand into it's been mushed into pea-sized pieces.
- Add the honey, buttermilk, figs, and prosciutto mix everything together.
- Pour the mixture onto a big workspace and lightly knead the dough until it starts to come together.
- Flatten the dough until it is 1 inch thick and using a cutter cut out the biscuits.
- Place on a baking sheet and freeze for 2 hours
- Once frozen, space out the biscuits on a baking sheet and using your egg lightly wash them
- Bake for 25 minutes
