Description

This gingerbread old fashioned is the perfect Christmas cocktail; it combines gingerbread syrup, bourbon, orange bitters, and aromatic bitters. Its sweet, spicy, and perfectly holiday-flavored!


Ingredients

For the syrup:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp ground allspice
  • 1/4 ground cloves
  • 1 cup water.

For the cocktail:

  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 1/2 ounce gingerbread syrup
  • 2 dashes of orange bitters
  • 1 dash aromatic bitters

Instructions

  1. Start by making the gingerbread syrup by mixing 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup molasses, 1 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon, 2 tsp ground ginger, 1 tsp allspice, 1/4 tsp ground cloves, and 1 cup water. Bring to a simmer, let cook for 10-15 minutes then let cool and strain.
  2. Next, add 2 ounces of bourbon, 1/2 ounce of gingerbread syrup, 2 dashes of orange bitters, and 1 dash of aromatic bitters. 
  3. Stir to combine and garnish with an orange.
