Description

If you love banana bread, this is the cocktail for you! This banana bread old fashioned takes banana liqueur and Bourbon (two flavors that go so well together) and mixes them with a bit of brown sugar, walnut, and chocolate to make a sweet, elegant, and nostalgic cocktail!

Ingredients

Scale

For brown sugar simple syrup:

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar

For the cocktail:

  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 1/2 ounce banana liqueur
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar simple syrup + more if you like a sweeter cocktail
  • 1 dash of chocolate bitters
  • 1 dash of black walnut bitters

Instructions

  1. If making syrup, add the water and brown sugar to a sauce pan and heat on medium until the sugar has melted. Set aside to cool.
  2. Add ice to a rocks glass.
  3. Add Bourbon, banana liqueur, and brown sugar syrup. Add up to 1/2 ounce syrup if desired.
  4. Finish with the black walnut and chocolate bitters and stir.
  5. Garnish with chocolate shavings and a banana chip (optional).

Notes

*Simple syrup makes between 8-10 cocktails.

*Store syrup refrigerated in a container for up 1 month
