Description

This iconic and retro cocktail combines bourbon with a sweet and spicy cinnamon butter batter and is all melted together in hot water


Ingredients

For the batter:

  • 1/2 cup salted butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 2 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground clove
  • 1/8 ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 tsp allspice

For the cocktail:

  • 1 1/2 -2 tablespoons spiced butter
  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 6 ounces very hot water

Instructions

  1. Start by making the batter. Beat the butter, spices, sugar, maple syrup, vanilla, and spices together until well blended and fluffy. 
  2. Then start boiling your water.
  3. Add 1 1/2 -2 tablespoons batter to a heat-proof glass.
  4. Top with the hot water and stir until the butter has melted.
  5. Garnish with a cinnamon stick or top with whipped cream.

Notes

High-fat European style butter is highly recommended.
