Description

This candied pecan old fashioned is so decadent, delicious, and absolutely full of pecan flavor! It's made with a candied pecan simple syrup with pecans, brown sugar, and cinnamon that simmered until the syrup achieves a punch of pecan flavor.


Ingredients

For the syrup:

  • 2 cups pecans
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup water

For the cocktail:

  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 1/2 ounce candied pecan syrup
  • 2 dashes black walnut bitters
  • 1 dash smoked cinnamon bitters

Instructions

  1. Make the candied pecan simple syrup by simmering 1 cup brown sugar, 1 cup water, 5 cinnamon sticks, and 2 cups pecans for 30 minutes. Let cool then strain.
  2. Then, add ice to an old fashioned glass and top with 2 ounces bourbon.
  3. Next, top with 1/2 ounce pecan syrup, 2 dashes of black walnut bitters, and 1 dash of smoked cinnamon bitters.
  4. Stir to combine and garnish with a candied pecan.

Notes

Syrup can be kept in the fridge for up to two weeks.
